Terms
Terms of Use
Last updated October 31, 2026
These terms cover your use of the Dinner Cents iPhone app and this website. By using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
What Dinner Cents is
Dinner Cents plans a week of dinners for your household from a library of recipes, prices the ingredients at the Kroger family store you choose and builds a shopping list. It's a planning tool. It doesn't sell groceries, place orders or take payment for food.
Dinner Cents is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by The Kroger Co. or any of its stores.
Who can use it
The app is available in the United States and works only with Kroger family stores that Kroger's developer API returns. You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have a parent or guardian's permission. Your use of the App Store is also covered by Apple's terms.
Prices, products and stock
Store, product and price information comes from Kroger's developer API at the time you plan. We don't set, change or guarantee any price. Prices, sales, pack sizes and stock can change at any time and can differ from what you see in the store or at the register. Some ingredients may have no matching product or price at your store, and the app tells you when that happens. Always check the shelf price and the product before you buy.
Weekly totals, per-dinner costs and budget comparisons are estimates for planning. They are not a quote or an offer from any store.
Food, allergies and safety
Food rules such as diets, allergies and foods you skip are used to leave out recipes that contain those ingredients. The app can't see every product's full ingredient list, how it was made or whether it may contain traces of an allergen. Always read the label. Dinner Cents is not medical, nutritional or dietary advice.
Cooking times, portions and steps are general guidance. Follow safe food handling, cook meat, poultry, fish and eggs thoroughly, and use your own judgment.
Subscriptions and free trials
You can set up the app and preview your first week for free. Seeing the full week, dinner details and the shopping list requires a Dinner Cents Pro subscription. Current plans are $9.99 per month or $29.99 per year, in US dollars. The App Store shows the price for your account before you confirm.
- Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through your Apple Account. Apple's payment terms apply.
- New subscribers may be offered a 7-day free trial. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you're charged for the plan you chose.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price until you cancel. Your Apple Account is charged within 24 hours before the end of each period.
- You can cancel at any time in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then. How to cancel a subscription from Apple
- Deleting the app or your Dinner Cents account does not cancel a subscription.
- If we change a price, Apple notifies you and asks for consent where required before the new price applies.
- To use your subscription on a new or reinstalled iPhone with the same Apple Account, use Restore purchases in the app.
Refunds
Apple handles all payments, so refund requests go to Apple. We can't issue refunds ourselves. How to request a refund from Apple
Your account
The app creates an anonymous account automatically so it can look up prices. After subscribing, you can add an email address to sign in with one-time codes. Keep access to that email secure. You can ask us to delete your account at any time; see Delete your account.
Fair use
You agree not to:
- Copy, scrape, resell or redistribute prices, product data or recipes from the app
- Use automated tools against the app or our price service, or try to get around limits, security or the subscription
- Reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it
- Use the app in a way that breaks the law or Kroger's or Apple's terms
We may suspend access to the price service for use that breaks these rules.
Our content
The app, its recipes, photos, text and design belong to Dinner Cents or its licensors. While you follow these terms, you may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial meal planning. Store names, product names and trademarks belong to their owners.
Availability and changes
The app depends on Kroger's developer API and other services we don't control. Store coverage, product matches and prices may be unavailable at times, and Kroger may limit how often prices can be looked up. We may add, change or remove recipes and features. We'll try to give notice of significant changes in the app or on this website.
Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including that prices or product information are accurate, complete or current, or that the app will be uninterrupted or error free.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Dinner Cents is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for differences between planned and actual grocery costs. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the 12 months before the claim.
Apple
These terms are between you and Dinner Cents, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to it. Where Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies, these terms add to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
Ending use
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it and cancelling any subscription through Apple. We may end or suspend access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll give notice in the app or on this website. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Your rights
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived by contract.
